    ACADEMY INFORMATION & SUMMARY

Academically students will be exposed to strategies such as; Whole Brain Teaching, Teach Like a Champion, Fundamental Five and Mike Schmoker’s Focus. Teachers utilize cooperative groups to give students the opportunity to read, write, and discuss. Through the use of research based strategies students are given the opportunity to be frequently assessed by teachers. Smaller class sizes also provide teachers opportunities to better meet students’ needs by grouping and working with students one on one. The ultimate goal in Inspire Academy for students is growth.

Socially we expect students to work collaboratively with others. Students are grouped and taught how to utilize proper sentence structure when communicating through the use of AVID strategies. The students complete Gallup’s Strengths Explorer and then work through activities throughout the school year to work towards their strengths. Learning networks, which are groups created by the teachers based on student strengths, are created to help students feel supported throughout the school year by their peers. The students will utilize those learning networks for homework, collaboration, and academic support.

Emotionally teachers use strategies from Love and Logic and Capturing Kids hearts to make connections with students. Teachers will work on TEKS mastery to help students remain confident as they prepare to move into high school. Mistakes are welcome in Inspire Academy. Students are also encouraged to “Dress for Success” on Wednesdays. The theme for Wednesdays is “Guys with Ties and Girls with Pearls”. We believe dressing professionally can empower students to work toward their future.
